Air-to-water heating with an integrated tank
An iStore heat pump captures heat from the surrounding air and transfers it into the water stored in its tank. The compressor and fan use electricity to run that process.
iStore’s residential hot water range includes 180-litre and 270-litre systems. The current manufacturer product pages describe R290 refrigerant and built-in timer controls. We confirm the exact model, controls and installation requirements for the unit being quoted.
Choosing between iStore sizes
The smaller tank is not automatically the right choice for a small household, and a larger tank alone does not guarantee enough hot water. We look at shower length and flow, baths, back-to-back demand, visitors and the time available for reheating.
We also check the space around the unit, access, drainage, pipework and electrical supply. Your quote will identify the selected model and any changes required at the property.
Put the heating schedule to work
Hot water is part of the home’s energy use. If you already have solar panels, we can review whether daytime heating is a sensible fit. We can also consider your electricity tariff, expected hot water demand and other major loads.
The aim is to choose a practical schedule that suits the household. Available solar production, weather and tariff terms vary, so daytime operation does not guarantee that every heating cycle will be supplied by solar. Manufacturer-required water-heating cycles must be maintained. Any additional controls or energy-management integration need to be checked against the exact model.
Understand the complete installation
We make the equipment and installation scope clear before work proceeds. That includes the electrical requirements, plumbing connections, old-system removal and any agreed changes to the location or pipework.

iStore hot water questions
Can an iStore heat pump work without solar panels?
Yes. It is an electric hot water system that draws heat from the air; solar panels are optional. Solar generation may help supply some of its electricity when the operating times line up.
Should I choose the 180-litre or 270-litre model?
We assess hot water use, peak demand, reheating opportunities and the site before recommending a size. Household numbers are a starting point, rather than a promise of performance for every routine.
Can it replace electric or gas hot water?
It may be suitable for either replacement. The existing equipment, available electrical supply, water connections and installation location need to be checked first. Any gas disconnection forms part of the agreed trade scope.
Does every iStore have Wi-Fi or app control?
We confirm the controls included with the exact model on your quote. Do not assume app control is included with every unit. We will show you how to use the controls supplied with your system.
What will it cost to install and run?
The installed quote depends on the model and work required at your property. Running costs depend on hot water demand, electricity prices, climate, operating settings and any solar contribution. We can review those factors with you and check any incentives that may apply before you decide.
